i saw i thing on cbs or abc i forget which one, but the show had the inventor of that shredder and they were showing tons of different material get shredded to nothing in seconds. awesome indeed.

looked like all new castings, most I6 blocks from what i saw/remeber.

could have been surplus ones to chop up or a batch of defective ones that may have been cast wrong.

either way i bet the remains will be sold(if that isnt at their own place), melted down and added right to a batch of more metal and re-cast into more blocks
