Few Qs...

okay first off, as you may know i picked up a ls1 car with a messed up tranny. some of you seen the car and helped me diagnose, but im still looking for more opinions.

ITS AN
AUTOMATIC
the scenario-

The car goes into gear-

first gear is fine.
second gear doesnt do anything till like 3500
3 and 4 is almost non existant.

when shifting (1,2,D,[D]) it does the ssame thing.

also a loud banging is heard when i give it gas or put it in gear.(im thinkin mount lol)

also, another question...

my friend has a trans from a 94 LT1 car, automatic, will it work with my LS?

The banging is the trans mount. And idk if the lt1 trans will work. It might with some modifications

It will fit, but you need to use the LT1 converter and a pilot spacer me thinks. Also the LS1 pcm cannot work it, you need a 95 LT1 trans for it to work.

So, either MVB it, or TH350.

how is an lt1 trans gonna work on an ls motor... the 4l60 bell housings are part of the casing... isnt the ls and lt have different bolt patterns??

No?

The LS1 4L60E has a detachable bell housing, but the pattern is the same. The isuue is earlier, pre 95, do not have the needed solenoid, so the LS1 PCM cannot run them.

The other issue is depth of the input shaft, but it is doable. In this case, not worth it.

Disclaimer: I know nothing, kcoolthanx

Save up for a performabuilt, buy a used LS trans, or rebuild yours.

Just figure on a rebuild. Have it done by someone who knows what they are doing. There's a couple builders I use, they aren't the cheapest but their stuff holds together.

You crate your trans and bring/ship it to PA. Whiplash deals with them, hit him up.
