Turbo Lex!!!

My friend just got his Lexus IS300 turbocharged. Turbo kicks in at 3600 RPM and stays strong till redline. Bumped stock 215hp at the crank to 315hp at the wheels. This thing kicks Ass!!! Can't wait to see it perform at the track.

He should be able to hit low 13s. With some practice, high 12s are not out of the question.

well, for now it we can only say it is capable of those times. craig may very well ET better than mike since craig is a much much better driver.
horsepower is a wonderful thing if you learn to control it.

are those #'s accurate in the fact that hes putting down 315 to the wheels now?

He had a dyno chart to prove it.

Social Networks:

The Lex dynoed 313 hp and 315 ft/lbs to the wheels. The car (stock) weighs 3250, so you figure with the turbo kit and Mike in it, it's still under 3500.

The guy who installed the turbo for him (TBKO stage 1 @ 7psi - installed at their shop in MD) told him he couldn't powershift the car. I have never heard of that before in a turbo application, has anyone else?

I got to ride in this thing last night, and wow....it pulls like hell, and the exhaust (although it looks like a watermelon launcher) has a very nice burble to it.

if it is putting 315ft/lbs to teh wheels then it is putting at least 350 on teh input shaft. dependign what teh tranny was rated for it could be a limiting factor.
mike never really powershifted anyway, so i doubt that will be a problem. unless you count the ricer wound out in neutral tire chirp shift

Theres a kid in garfield with a beastily IS300, his name is danny. I dunno if he still has it but it was insanely fast, and if i recall ran 11s or so. Theres a intercooler the size of a windowairconditioner in that thing, lol.

But its stock looking, no ugly wings or anything like that hanging off it. Just looks stock.

The particular kit that he got has different stages that go into the engine and whatnot. Stage II will put 380hp to the wheels and I don't know what stage III has in store.

Our next task is finding some weld wheels to fit and some drag radials.

if he is being told not to powershift you may wanna look into beefing up his tranny first. sticky tires will only kill it faster.

Yea that kid danny's car is producing more then 550 HP to the wheels just on the motor alone plus the 150 shot of Nitrous he has. his car is more of a show car then a drag car. but the car is fast really fast. i was in a 99 FRC vette driving when i seen him at a D&D and since i knew him i asked my friend if it be cool if we raced him to see if its that fast. his vette went 12.7 at the track with me driving it and when danny said yea just for fun nothing crazy it was on. needless to say i felt like i was standing still against this car.

i got to drive the turbo lex. it definately has a pair.
it is a very easy car to speed in, the power delivery is very smooth and the ride of the car is excellant. not really a huge fan of the shifter though, feels good at low speeds and cruising around, but if you get into it a bit it is very easy to miss 3rd gear, maybe i am just not used to the ubershort throw.

overall i gotta say that is a swet car mike!! thanks for givin me the keys, maybe i can talk ya into a pass at the track

im preety sure the motor and trans are the same ones that are in the supra. If so they prolly could withstand a bit, as people mod supras alot.

from what that kid danny told me the trans that came with his car was not a supra trans he had one built in FL that did all his work. it is the same straight 6 that was in the supras though. so same engine yes same trans no.
