didnt some 9 bolts offer a 3.9 ratio?

Yes but it's even less precise.

Motive may stamp the number of teeth onto the outer lip of the ring gear. Spin the axle and see if you can read anything on the ring gear. Wipe the gear off if you have to.

yes, mark the tire with a piece of tape or chalk or crayon or blood or nail then do th esame to the drive shaft. Provided you have a clutch style posi where you can spin the tire and the opposing tire spins equally, spin the tire one complete revolution and count how many times the driveshaft spins. However the difference between a 3.73 anfd 3.90 wont be able to be seen as they are so close and there is a backlash between the pinion and ring gear.

im 99% sure you have 41/11 3.73's, its very common and they only make speedo gears for 3.73 not 3.90's because some s-10 blazers with the 700R4 had that speedo gear option. i dont know if speedo gears were ever availble for a 3.90 set. Im guessing you gotz 3.73 whic is an excellent gear for an auto f-body
