If you have to drive your F-Body year round, the best thing you can do is get a stock set of wheels and buy a set of dedicated snow tires. The weight in the hatch is also good, but snow tires make all the difference in the world.

I drove my 76 Camaro and my 82 TA in the snow, until I got wise and had a daily beater. My 77 is allergic to salt.

Personally, I would take those salt bags out and replace them with sand bags. For one, they're about $4/bag at home depot (sand). Secondly, if that salt absorbs any moisture over the time you have it in the trunk, that could really corrode any metal back there. Sand won't have that nasty effect.

I've got a 60-lb. bag of sand in the back of my T/A for the winter. The added weight, with a full tank of gas before the snow hits, works wonders.
