LS1 piston slap or knock?

I went to look at an 02 Z28 today and it has higher miles on it. Does the LS1 slap/knock go away completely when it warms up or is there still a hint of it even after the engine warms up? It sounded a little more like a faint knock to me rather than piston slap so I'm a little leary. My old 93 would have some piston slap on occasion but it usually went away with an oil change. So should the noise go away or does it linger?

mine was always there, worse in the first 15 min or so, but never gone

edit: i thought id also share that mine had oil consumption issues as well.. like many of the 2001s. anyways, when my motor finally blew up(hydrolocked- not piston slap related) i tore it down to the bare block and looked for any damage from the piston slap, and suprisingly i did not see anythign, no scratches, no gouges. the cylinders looked mint so who knows, SOME piston slap cases may just be a cosmetic noise issue.... just wanted to add that...

Im the same as the above. On COLD warm ups its loud for about 15 seconds. Then it quiets down, but if i listen close i can tell its slapping a little. But its just about as loud as a lifter then
