Any System / Network Admin types looking for work?

We lost two people last week, and need to fill a few positions. Let me know if you might be interested, or know anyone that might be good for the job.

Both of these positions are for job openings with a highly rated government contractor. Job location is in the Princeton area.

Systems/Network/Security Engineering and Administrator

Assists in the development and maintenance of network communications. Uses knowledge of LAN/WAN systems to help design and install internal and external networks. Tests and evaluates network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements. Troubleshoots network access problems and implements network security policies and procedures. Ensures network (LAN/WAN, telecommunications, and voice) security access and protects against unauthorized access, modification, or destruction.


Specific tasks performed by this role include the following:

Systems/Network/Security Engineering and Administration

Provide NOAA with professional engineering services related to computer systems, networks, or security. Provide complete system administration service to servers, desktop workstations, and laptops running Linux, Windows, and MacOS operating systems. Activities may include, but are not limited to the following:

· Design of system images that meet the client’s functional needs
· Install/remove vendor supplied OS and systems software (compilers, batch system, etc) upgrades.
· Use systems utilities to tune performance.
· Provide utilization and performance information to the extent the systems allow.
· Customize configurations of software and hardware.
· Diagnose technical problems, including distinguishing between hardware, software, and user errors.
· Evaluate and apply security upgrades
· Support end users.
· Evaluate current methodologies and offer expert-level advice on alternatives or target solutions.
· Contribute to the design, procurement, installation, and testing of new hardware and software

IT Security

Work with NOAA personnel to provide security services to protect the HPCS components and the data that moves throughout the system. This may include support for conducting FISMA-dictated assessments and meeting FIMSA requirements (C&A, Contingency Planning, etc.). Prepare any necessary reports related to security incidents or violation reports. Perform computer security awareness and training.

Wide Area Network

Work with the network equipment vendor(s) and NOAA personnel to monitor, maintain, analyze and optimize the performance of communication networks and infrastructure services that support the HPCS. Investigate and help solve system-related problems, develop/maintain various system utilities and tools. Develop and apply performance analysis tools for these systems, and manage deployment and evaluation of hardware and software upgrades.


Experience:

Experience is desired in large system administration, scripting, storage engineering, UNIX network administration, management, and planning for installations of a size that is comparable to that of the client. This task requires a thorough knowledge of operating systems, compilers, and system utility programs. Because the client anticipates developing some mechanism for obtaining Windows and Mac functionality within its Unix/Linux environment, experience with Virtual Machines, Windows, and with Mac OS, is also required.

It is expected that Personnel assigned to these tasks will provide a brief weekly status report to the Technical Point of Contact, participate in a weekly Configuration Management meeting, and provide documentation on all tasks completed.

Services provided under task are considered High Risk. Privileged access to systems, networks, and restricted access portions of the facility will be required.

5+ years of required experience with a BS degree in CS, EE or similar.

Serve as the first source of information of all types for both internal users and external customers and the public. This will include: maintaining all documentation and user guides; arranging resources for new users and providing basic training; monitoring the help desk to assist users electronically; fielding questions and pursuing solutions; providing training on new or upgraded utilities and distributing notices/Email regarding changes in procedures or resources.
