1971 Camaro rebuild begins

Finally moved the camaro into the shop today to begin work. The car had not run in 14 years so we did some minor maintenance before trying to fire it up.
It ran so we can now decide to rebuild the 350 or find an LS motor.

We'll begin disassembly and set up on the rotisserie in the next few weeks and report back.

I tossed a coin on it running. Some WD 40 down the plugs, a new starter and battery were needed. I had to use another carb as the one on it was pumping more fuel out of the top than down the motor when we 1st tried it Plus I ran it off a jug rather than chance the lines and tank. I'm in touch with the PO who swore he put stabile in the tank....but

It did blow a pile of leaves and a mouse nest across the shop but it did run. We'll plan to tear it down anyway. It will go to BBC in Linden for a some what stock rebuild.

Its an original 350 car but the info I have so far leads me to believe its a 69 block so probably not #'s matching, once we have it out i'll know for sure. I wasn't concerned about the #'s and the price didn't warrant that being a factor.

I'm leaning towards painting it the original color, Muslane Blue (spelling?)

I do have a RS nose with upper and lower sections, a new tail light panel, new rear seat pan, fender and door. Once its stripped i'll have to see what other metal has been compromised.

Good luck, can't wait to see the progress pictures. I'll be the first to say I'd definitely go with Mulsanne Blue, it's an awesome color.

Hope to get back on the car in Feb. Thankfully we have been busy on anything from final deliveries to a recent race car repair of a road race porsche 944

http://summitrodandcustom.com/1949-c...bo-gt3-racecar

As some of you may or may not know I have been building and competing with PCA and NASA in a few classes since 04; road racing is a totally awesome addiction. Some members reach out for paint work and crash repair.

The weather has also not been helpful, and Im sure this is the case for anyone trying to operate a business or just get around period! Stay warm and drive safe.
