3.4 head swap

I read a write-up on a different forum a while ago about swapping out the stock heads for the heads off of a 3400, has anyone else here heard anything like that? The heads are supposed to fit and supposedly yield ~40hp. That seams like a bit of a stretch, just wondering if anyone else has had any experience with this set-up.

only way ur gonna make 400 hp with a v6 is boosting the crap out of it, then it will keep blowing up and run 12.5 @ 120mph but never have any proof of it. (inside joke) but seriously, just save up your money and get a LT1 or LS1 car. youll make more power with bolt ons than that V6 could.

I have read about the head swap before. Sounds like a good deal since you can pick one up at nearly any junk yard in the country anymore. Even if it is only worth 20hp, you wouldn't have much money into it so the $$$ to HP ratio would still be good.

I know that Im not going to make serious power with most things that I do with the 3.4. Im not trying to make serious power though, Id just like something with a little bit more balls than a 3.4 with i/h/e. And the unfortunate truth is that I just wouldnt be able to afford an LS1 or LT1 car right now, as much as I would LOVE to have one. Just trying to make due with what Ive got.

Thanks for the help everyone.

*waits for Bubba to chim in at any moment now* we do have one person on this forum whos still in the process of doing the hybrid. I saw a 3400 series engine at a junkyard not far from me, so if your looking for the intake and heads and what not, I saw it at Dirks in weymouth. I would suggest also taking the exhaust manifolds, unless somehow the 2.8/3.1 headers can fit on them, im not sure. Id say tho, start with putting a cam in the thing, and go from there. comp makes one for it.

keep making jokes LOL, i'm litterally 5ft of fuel injection hose and a slave cylinder away it will be done soon, very soon...until then I still have nothing to say about this besides a few corrections..

its about 40hp at the crank NOT the wheels, its betwine 20-30hp at the wheels depending on the drivetrain. second its not just a "swap" theres A LOT of fabrication involved, it doesn't just bolt up, but I'm not going to get into detail...

I never claimed to be making 400hp that was the jack ass with the 3rd gen camaro, I'm hoping for 300 at the crank or around 250RWHP. once again my set up

3400/3.4
Crane Cam (110/107/.218/.228/.454/.480)
1.6 roller rockers(total lift is .484/.512 rockers)
Accel 24lb/hr injectors
Pacesetter headers
SpeedPro 10:1 CR pistons
factory fordged bottom end
forged pushrods for a 91 cavalier with a 3.1(very important!!!! only factory length that will work)
moddified timing cover
custom sensor wiring
re-routed fuel lines
battery relocation(air box is now there)
Custom made CAI
and thats it for now
