lock or non-lock up???

my friend has a 88' firebird, its got a new 355" and has a carb. no more TPI. the stock ECU is still in car, and the th700r4 has been rebuilt to take the hp"s, he'd like to use the trans. does anyone know which wires to use to lock or unlock the converter with a toggle switch, the car has no power at all, we think the converter is staying locked in, and won't un-lock, because if it don't work then a TH350 TCI super street fighter, will go in and 700r4 will get sold, but he already bought 456 gears for the rear, for the th700r4. thanks.
