my experience at nats!

well, everything was cool untill the last run. ran about 4 times my best run being a 12.0@119 with a 1.7 (i know right). anyway i as having trouble with my launches and im still getting a feel for the car and i had a couple missed shifts on the night. Engine ran really stong although i was told i was blowing a little smoke at shifts. so they called last callto race so i scurried over there to try and get my 11 sec pass finnally and i went balls to the wall with it. did about a 30 sec burnout and got the tires really really sticky and lowered the air pressure a little more and i wasnt messing that run. 4.5k dump at the line booom!... car goes no where... i have no forward or reverse gears. And there is nothing making any weird noises. its not a clutch problem because the car shifts while it runs it just doesn't move. Pretty sure i snapped something in the trans. Pretty sure im the only guy that had a catastrophic failure of the day so ill be looking for my trophy in the mail... thanks

That sucks. If it's the trans, that will be interesting to see the carnage.

Sucks the car broke on the last pass. I was hoping it was something minor but thats never how it goes right? Car sounded great on the passes I saw earlier in the day. The fact the trans broke on your car scares me into how my trans will hold up under the boosted motor.

almost postive its not the rear cause i put in it in gear and told al to look under the car and he said the DS wasn't spinning so that right there is telling me its something else... but we will see... ill have to put it up on jack stands next week to take off the drag wheels anyway so ill take a look to see what i can find. yea norm i hear ya i was just happy that i decided to tailor it cause that would have really sucked. yea i deff heard somthing snap or let loose. but it makes no weird noises when in gear now its just like stuck in neutral almost..

BRIAN GO WITH THE UPGRADED "VIPER" SPEC SHAFTS!... its a pricey option and i was told that my car at 455 rwhp was on the edge of the trans being safe. But i figured i dotn race all the time so its not a big deal. Well im not sure its the trans yet but it sure seems like it and your car with those monster heads and boost... well your going to be well over my 455 mark. Just a heads up. O and its true what they say about these mcloud street twins... they are abusive alright!

Yea I already planned to buy the nastiest trans (viper mainshaft, largest output spline, etc) I can since I still want to row the gears myself. This will be the second to last thing I buy for the car before it is all done so I still have time. I know yours was not a fully built unit but I still hear of people busting "bullet proof" transmissions making a considerable amount of power.

Should be interesting for sure!!

yea i think youll be ok with all that work... being its not going to be a set "race" car and more of a triple S threat from what i understand cause that car is to nice to just race all the time.

Sucks that happened. We were all watching to see you run.

I had hydraulic issues with my clutch. My last pass, I though I blew something when I shiffed to 4th and then had no gear(clutch stayed on the floor)

You were doomed from the moment you crossed the track entrance on a trailer pal.

Broken rear doesn't usually cause the driveshaft to stop spinning when the car is in gear....unless it's completely locked up. But I think he would have mentioned that.

yea well i wasnt looking under there but according to Al i asked him to look down there and he said the driveshaft wasnt spinning...it deff sounded like it was in the trans though... im curious to see what happened too... maybe the stickyness of the wild burnout and the twin disc clutch were too much for the mainshaft or somthing i donno. Ill make a thread about it when i start to dig in and go a fishing for my lost gears...

Rowing gears is fun, but I'm getting tired of breaking parts(and I've broken less than you) lol.
