How did they figure out they were fake - the failure rate was much lower than the real thing from MSD?

They were shipped to MSD for repair.

lol so in your opinion the chine units are better?
I have had many msd boxes fail on my over the years

maybe the reasons you guys were having failing MSD boxes were because you got chinese ones and didnt realize it. if they were this close then sites like rockauto and whatever could very well have gotten ''discount'' shipments and were none the wiser either

If they were, that would be a heartbreaker for MSD.
I think everyone has had multiple bad MSD units, rite of passage for fast cars - then you learn to buy something better!

I have had ignition parts from MSD, Mallory, and Accel. So far MSD has been the best, Mallory 2nd, and Accel a very, very far 3rd.

Ive seen msd boxes fail but it usually from idiots welding on there car and noti disconnecting there battery and discon nting there msd box.
