Texas Mile Pics/Vids

Well as most of you guys know I go to school in Texas. One of the benefits to this is some of the best motorsport events in the country happen here. Lucky for me, I only live a half hour from where they run the Texas Mile event every year. So I got a media pass, grabbed my Nikon and video camera, and went to check it out. The link to the full hi-res album is below. I am adding pics to it every day.

Apparently the video I took of the record Ford GT below has gone viral. Made it to Jalopnik and a few other pages.

Ohh yea it was a really fun time. Def can't wait to hopefully have something to bring there myself in the future.

No hdr here. These are all single exposure shots with a good amount of post processing done in Photoshop CC...

Call it what you want, there is a white glow around the cars in most shots. They look good, it just looks overly processed to an hdr/high contrast effect. Throw up an original just so I can look at the difference.

Very cool to be able to get into an event like that!

How many cars showed up to run the mile?

Are you using automatic settings or manual?

Next time practice with the manual settings and expose for the car in the for ground. it looks like the camera is exposing for the brightest part which is the background, and thats causing the cars to come out dark. I can only imagine Texas days are as bright as they are here in California and you may find yourself resetting your exposure for every picture.

For my work photos I don't even shoot in RAW anymore unless its something special. If you set it right the first time your photos should be coming out with very minimal post processing work.

I am shooting in full manual. Still getting used to this new body. I also kept forgetting to change my settings from when I was stationary shooting to when I was panning and vice versa. I'm sure I will get better with time. Just need to practice some more. I'll be bringing the camera to Vegas this week so I will have tons of time to play with the settings some more

I'm a fan of the HDR/high contrast look. Too bad it's a Nikon.

Good shots man.
