Old Coleman Lantern

Found two of these burried in my granddads shed while we were cleaning them out. Instead of fixing them I decided to wire them up to run LED's. I still need to fix a few things and decide if I want to make imitation mantles to cover the lamps. As of now it runs off of a 12v transformer but I plan to wire it so it can also run from a cigarette lighter.

If I was able to figure out a way I would have liked to center the lamps with the coleman sticker on the front, maybe on the next one.

Neat. I have some old railroad lanterns I want to restore someday. I might steal your idea

That IS cool. I would put faux mantles on there, it would really mellow out the LED's.
Also you could stick some 12 volt batteries in the fuel canister and run it off that and have the power supply be your charger

Thanks for the compliments. I will have to look into the battery idea on the next lantern, would definitely make it more useful when we go camping.

Funny that you mention rail road lights. The Lionel Train bank I got from you a few years ago I wired up with LED's. Kids took it apart and lost the bulbs and I just happend to have a few red leds laying around.
