BIZARRE power steering problem

fluids fine, no leaks, belts fine... everything sounds good

took a hard turn

power steering dissapeared on me


any clues?

the powersteering was fine.. than i took a hard turn.. anbd it dissapeared

i was asking if it just went away while in the turn/coming out of it and then it came back...not messing around

thats weird though...dunno much about power steering but its odd that either the pulley didnt seize and you didnt lose a hose...hmm

i lost power steering doing donuts once and it was just the acc. drive belt
not sure what this could be

LS1s have a single belt for all the accessories and a seperate one for the a/c....so if your belt was gone youd have no p/s, low battery voltage, overheating, etc

Maybe one of the internal seals in the pump went bad or the recirculating check ball that controls fluid flow.

sounds like there is pressur though.. check ball maybe...

but theres pressure i can hear it when i open it.

if you have had the car running and the fluid gets hot it creates a vacum like efftect and when you turn the cap to take it off it makes that little pop like sound.

i lost my power steerign once on a sharp turn in a parking lot, started hissing, shut it off, turned the car back on and it was fine, fluid full still. i think it happened twice in the 4 years i first had the car.
