01 SS vs. 05 Ford GT

http://redworm.net/trmin8r/trmin8rvsfordgt.wmv

The SS:

Quote:
2001 Arctic White Camaro SS M6 #3136

Dyno #'s Best n/a- 414RWHP/378RWTQ
Best n2o- 602RWHP/610RWTQ

Best e.t. to date in Abq- 12.31@124mph
and a stock 05 ford GT.

First race the GT lets off due to traffic ahead, but the 2nd race the SS clearly beats him.

I wouldve liked to have seen the gt vs the ss na...the ss should run 120 traps in the 1/4....i dont think the gt is much more then that meaning it would be an uber close race na vs na.

The GT is supercharged from the factory. I doubt there would be an na vs na race

I think that video is not as it seems.

If you read the thread at the actual site, that Supra has 1000rwhp. Also, apparently the guy in the Ford GT wasn't really racing the second time or something. The first time, he just slowed down for traffic.

The guy in the Supra never caught cause he was running street tires. He kept spinning out.

the SS trapped 124 NA i believe...im pretty sure the GT would rape it NA though, the camaro only has 414rwhp and weighs more, as opposed to the GT having 550 and i dont have a clue how much it weighs but i bet its lighter than the camaro.

I dont care if the SS runs 14's at the track and the other cars run nines. they raced, the SS won and the other two lost, thats just how it goes. If the billion hp supra knew he was gonna spin, he shouldn't have even bothered racing. When you race on the street, track numbers and horsepower dont mean ****.

Dont take this post the wrong way, I have nothing against you or any of the drivers, but when you lose, you lose. plain and simple.

i don't know how many 1000 HP supras i've seen that only run 12s, because they run such ungodly amounts of boost that the turbo lag kills their ET.

i don't care if he was running on street tires or not. he still lost.

actually, its not so much the turbo lag...its the lack of traction from first through...4th gear

its really hard to get wide slicks in the back of them without hacking it all up, thats the problem.

I see at as it is... it's the peaky torque curve. Those things are hard to drive because of the boost coming in as hard as it does. It's the same with those turbo motorcycles, it's the exact same thing when the Supra's are making 1000hp. Imagine having to jab the throttle to spool up the car then back off the throttle while you're accelerating as the boost comes on just to keep the tires from going up in smoke. That is why they're slow and why I'd rather have a 600hp Supra than a 1000hp Supra . One is a lot easier to drive and is that much faster when it comes to stop light racing.
