well i was browsing some fbody websites today I i came upon a post about gears... In the article they gave the different codes for the gears and I notices 2.73 next to them. Of course I always thought I had 3.23's or 3.42's but it got me thinking. So I go down to my car and take a look and low and behold sat the damn code for 2.73's Kinda pissed off I have the crapy gears right now... but i did find a nice website in my frantic search to prove it untrue

auto's only came with 2.73's or 3.23's...also depending on your tires you might have your top speed limiter set at 118mph not to mention some ls1's have steel driveshafts stock.

just keep in mind theres a high chance your 3.73's are for a 3 series carrier...his is 100% a 2 series carrier...meaning he'd need new gears & carrier...or he could buy new 2 series gears for ~$190.

So, 2:73's are fine!

Local guy has 2:73's, full exhaust and a converter.... he isn't the best driver at all (he is still learning) and he goes 12.3 or 12.4?

Don't rely on their tech database for good information. There are lots of untrue things there.

2.73's suck balls....I had them in mine & was able to run 12.7@107 with them & a 3500 stall with some very used slicks...im sure if i didnt smack the rev limiter I wouldve been able to run a 12.5 but with 3.73's I probably wouldve run a 12.2-12.3

Its all good bro! get some 3.73's in there and you'll be fine! Just don't let Mark take you in his GT! or let Christian take you with his Cavalier! if that happens......sell it.....sell it fast. J/K get a new rear in it and it'll be fine. The car is bad ass as it sits! & I like it!

Fortunatly the speed limiter isn't at 118 not sure what its at but it will do 155....

The gay thing is new gears and install will be at least $800 so i'm just gonna save up for a new rear end with 3:73's inmstalled already
