Replacing steering column

Anyone know the "book time" on a steering column install on an 89 camaro? Cousin is looking at buying this 89 IROCZ 5.7 he found but I don't know if the money they want for it is worth the work it needs, all though he has 2.5 years before he can drive and wants it so he can rebuild it over time. Needs steering column, has VATS problem, guy says it needs to be bypassed, Nice dent in door and getting no spark. 105k miles.

Sounds logical. Just talked to my cousin, apparently the guy has it hot wired so it cranks but wont start and the battery is weak. Well, something along those lines, hes 13 and doesn't know much so it was hard to translate his car jargon. I think I'm getting dragged out there tomorrow to look at it so Ill see what the hell is going on.

Book time as in like a mitchell estimating guide? So how much labor it will cost to pay someone to do it?

Changing a steering column is not a hard job, but why does the whole column need changing? Loose tilt?

sorry its really easy to change the steering coulm its about close to an hours work the repair shops will charge you about 2-3 hours work allso you will need to bypass the vats or get a steering coulm and vats box out of the same car

I have no idea. It was listed in the ad that needed column installed. and also said vats bypass. However just found out today that the seller has the column and is installing it right now.
