3rd gen exhaust tips..

so I will be swapping out my flowmaster exhaust for a magnaflow next week..and wanted to add some nice chrome tips...i know the style i want...im just not sure of the length i want..

so..i open it up to your opinions before i make my purchase. i decided i like the 4th gen rectangle camaro tips, and thats the style i want... however, i have found that there are 2 lengths in the same style... one is 6 inches long, the other is 8.

here are links to both...

6 inches long:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/6-Che...3A1|240%3A1318

8 inches long:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/8-Che...3A1|240%3A1318

let me know your opinions.. thanks, is the ones of the 4th gen 6 inches or 8?

yeah i have no interest in dumps, or slash cuts... just not the look im going for

so the general concensus (sp?) thinks the 8" ones are the way to go? probly will go with those..

question: on ebay, there are tons of these tips for sale, but range from $25-65... any difference in quality from what anyone knows? i cant see anything that differs them.. so im think the 25 ones are ok... unless i hear otherwise from you guys

post up a couple links to the different prices. maybe its material, finish, or hardware. could be higher shipping to make up for it too.

They came up with a kit end of 2007/early 2008... definately has been out over a year now, it sounds great... i cant wait to get it installed on my 87 (probly in a month or two.. had to wait unfortunately)

If you go over to thirdgen.org, do a search, there is a guy there with a blue firebird out in California who's car was the mule for their 3rd gen system. He gave his car to them, and they tested it out/installed the system for free...
You can see his blue 'bird on the magnaflow site too if you search for it...

Dosent magnaflow come with 3" stainless tips?

If it does it could make changing them almost impossible since the ones I have seen come with the 3" slash cuts that start almost as far back as the muffler..
Also do not buy chrome tips for a stainless exhaust, when they rust they will look like real crap.

Yes, they do. In order to use the ebay tips you'd have to get another set of tailpipes to attach to the magnaflow muffler and stick the ebay tips on them, or just get a few 90* bends in the correct size and fab up something yourself.

In other words, take a perfectly good, brand new exhaust and screw it up.

Well, damn...looks like Ill have to pick up the Magnaflow system when the Hooker system falls apart, or if I buy another third gen, maybe Ill swap it over.
