If they are the stock lower control arms, don't bother and just replace them with aftermarket ones. Or at least box them out before you paint them. The bone stock ones are so bad you can deflect them by hand.

Bah. screw the stock control arms. if i go further than just painting them out then i might as well put on aftermarket tubed ones like bill said.
i posted the exhaust video in the first post tim. if you missed it ill post it again ill post it back up. it has a collector leak from the header so im gonna stop in at an exhaust place tomorrow to have it welded instead of crappy clamped(cut the exhaust to do the rear).
i was gonna stop in at 5 guys this wednesday cause im off and lunch sounds good. stop by tim ill give you a lookeraround.

Where's the leak at, the header collector's? I thought the QTP headers have an expanded collector and it looks like the pipes go inside the header collectors. That's a bad design. But don't get anything welded to the headers. If you ever need to drop the transmission then your exhaust gets in the way. Have a shop fab up the pipes to clamp onto the outside of the collectors. And don't bother with a 3 bolt flange collector, that's old school which means blown out gaskets and leaks forever! Don't bother asking how I know. If the weather looks good for Wed, maybe I'll bring the 70 over to 5 guys for lunch, I haven't been there since last year.

well im just gonna have him weld it up for peace of mind. they dont charge me very much and i have exhaust work done often at a local shop. wont be no more than 50 bucks. if i have to sawzall it to take it down again i will, i just cant stand the sound of exhaust leaks. plus with the new clutch/rear/driveshaft/rear main seal i dont forsee myself taking the trans down any time soon. when i order my high flow cats from summit later this summer ill get some nice band clamps and collector pipes

because i can drop 50 bucks to have it welded for now. enjoy it with the peace of mind knowing the exhaust wont leak. if i find myself in a position that i need to drop the exhaust ill order some high flow cats and do it then. right now i wanna enjoy it without any catular restrictions in my exhaust goddammit.

umm yeah i have the ability to mod a vehicle. ive been doing it for years. the exhaust is fully welded closed as of this morning. it sounds more streetable and has a nice throaty sound when gunning it.
the tunnel mounted torque arm is something i want to do after seeing my friend eric throw his driveshaft through his floor in his 79 z. the tunnel mounted torque arm has a loop on it and something i want to get before i hit the track....especially after seeing the same torque arm work to perfection on mikes car last month when he broke his driveshaft.
with the car having a six speed, built rear, custom driveshaft, 11'' rear wheels and full clutch/flywheel/master/slave/throwout mods the only left for me to do is run the car and save some money for a built motor. not gonna waste my time with a cam or head swap when itll run me a nice bit of cash to get there...then i have to worry about the stock motor.
im pretty content with the way the car sits at the moment. im pretty sure ill have about 8k saved up by next year....i already have close to 3k saved towards it now.

i wanted a quick fix for cheap right now so i can drive the car and enjoy it for a few days or so before i start tossing money into it. the bumper is priority number 1 since the leak is fixed. i own a sawzall, have no problem sawzalling the exhaust one more time. it takes literally seconds. it cost me 40 bucks and a 15 dollar tip to get my exhaust welded this morning and was done in about 20 minutes. did it before work. i havent had a day off since i bought it and it wasnt legal that day. tomorrow is the first day ill be able to cruise around in it.
stupid. 50 bucks and 20 minutes and my car sounds lovely. ill take that kind of stupid all damn day long.
