So I heard you like HP.....

Looks like Dodge is upping the ante on the Hellcat brand with the new Demon. It will slot above the Challenger Hellcat and likely have more rubber, fender, hp and of course....$$. My hats off to their marketing folks for using the name and the logo. Hopefully the execution lives up to the hype it will create.

It's nice to see each of the big 3 brands having a rather clear focus with their vehicles. The GT350 has a unique engine and is more focused for track work, the new ZL1 is likely the best all-rounder and the Hellcat is HP/noise more suited for the 1/4. I wonder what Ford will bring with the GT500.

A family friend is getting a 2017 ZL1, I think production starts mid Feb.

What a time to be a gearhead.

Def a fun time. I think the M6 ZL1's were in customer hands already but the A10 gets going soon - likely Feb as you mentioned.

Vinnie may know but doubt he will be able to say anything for employment reasons. It would be fun if they did 999hp (666 flipped over) but doubt it. There is chatter it will do low 10's/high 9's in the 1/4 so I'm guessing the HP bump is more than a little.

999hp would be epic. very nice logo too.

I agree with the big 3 in the pony car field. All 3 are making stupid fast cars out of the box.

I wish GM/Dodge did more in the compact scene though. Focus RS looks like a fun car. Chevy and Dodge have no answer.

Thumbs down

I love ALL this SUPER HIGH horsepower, but all it's going to take, is ONE as Hole to wrap it around a pole or tree and away goes the crazes as HOW MUCH IS TOO MUCH. These cars demand soooo much attention when WOT is given and the closing rate on upcoming traffic is hard to judge. Just keeping 500-600 hp on the ground is awe inspiring, but giving this much power to a kid or showoff is a recipe for serious damage. Just my .

I think dodge got this screwed up.

The demon was an option on the Dodge dart in the 70s.

They recently brought the dart back. Yet they are going to bring the demon back but put it on the challenger body? That makes no sense at all.

They should bring the demon back as a performance version of the dart. Give it the 666hp. That the name deserves. This should be a cheaper option then the hellcat not a more expensive option.

I was thinking a similar thing, Like how the big motorcycle companies put a stop to increasing power in their sport bikes
