Opinion's needed on DRL's.

So I've had some issues with lighting and I wanted to do upgrades and these are the fog lights I ordered. The fog lights are the whiter ones in case you didn't know.

The red is a stock set up. The pewter is a different foglight from what I ordered but it has a clear drl.

I'm leaning towards the white drl but just wanted some opinions. Is it legal to have a white turn signal? Should I go LED or just a stock replacement 3157? Thanks for looking.

I remember a thread on this on LS1Tech some time back.

I believe the law, at least in NJ, is you are not allowed to have a flashing blue light visible; This is reserved for law enforcement vehicles.

There are Switchback style LEDs on the market, but that doesn't mean you're in the clear. Even if it is called "Super White," some white LEDs often have a light blue hue to them. It varies from company to company, and will be up to the discretion of you and an officer as to what color you see when looking at it.

I believe a lot of people had issues with a batch of these at first, and I'm not sure if there a solution was found or not, but ideally, you would like to run an LED that: Runs constant white, but when the blinkers are activated, flashes amber/off/amber/off. I too want a white DRL bulb to match my 5000k HID lows & fogs, but would only purchase something that flashed amber/off. As far as I know, there currently isn't any reliable plug-and-play option on the market that fits this bill.

There are others on the market that flash amber/white/amber/white, but again, the color may not appear 100% white, and for that reason, could be regarded as "flashing blue."

People had issues with the 60 led switchbacks (including me). The 48s are in with no issues. I run LED protectors as well but before all this, my 20s ran fine for 5 years+. If you want the whitest light possible and don't need to light anything in front of you, then the LED switchbacks are your best option here.

I'm not looking to light up anything in front of me with the DRL but I'm also not looking to impersonate a cop. Did a little searching and white or amber turn signals are legal in NJ only in the front. I guess the easiest thing would be a white 3157 but if I did go LED what exactly would I need to run the 48's or 20's? What company do you recommend?

I use autolumination. Go with the 48 SMT LED towers. Website will likely give you a seizure. You will probably need to run electronic flashers as well to avoid the rapid pulse.

These previous bulbs burned up pretty bad and I had to file the housing a bit to get a bulb in. These are just rear turn signal bulbs in the DRL housing. Projectors are next.

They are more blue than green. 35 watt 6000k. I wanted darker fogs and 5000k for projectors but if I could do it again I'd get 5000k for both.
