Replace Stock LS6 Valves?

I picked up a set of stock 243 heads, and I was disassembling/cleaning them to go on my car. They came off a newer avalanche with ~45k miles, so they have the heavier valves which have normal corrosion build up on them.

Is it worth replacing the valves or going with something lighter while I have everything disassembled? Where's a good place to find replacement or performance valves for stock heads?

I haven't found 243 heads w/ LS6 hollow valves on any engines other than Vette LS6 models yet, are you sure your Avalanche valves are the hollow ones?

I know these are not the sodium filled hollow valves. I wanted to know it is worth replacing the ones I have with something lighter; Possibly the sodium filled hollow stems if I can find them at a reasonable price.

I would just keep an eye out on Tech. I have seen the valves for sale over there. I picked up my Z06 Heads with Patriot gold springs and the sodium valves for 450.00 on Tech. Might be able to find a set of Z06 heads and pull the valves out and sell the heads and get your money back?

We can get you Manley stainless steel valves they are $130.00 per set of 8.
Also if you want any port work to be done on them I could have them sent out to Ed Curtis to have it done.

I cant justify spending $230 for just a set of valves.

Devin, could you send me some more info on the porting that Ed offers? Like what exactly he covers in porting (valve job, bigger valves?, cnc or hand porting, price...). Im running his streetsweeper HT cam and it would be cool to have the heads ported to match the cam's strengths.

Dont wast your time changing them. do a valve job and put them back toghter. If your intristed i could have TEA do some CNC port work. $995.00 Using customer supplied Ls-6 castings flows over 310 CFM !!!!

Any suggestions for local NJ shops that do angle or radius valve jobs? I didnt plan to have these worked but I guess it would be nice to at least get a valve job and decked.

Ive been emailing TEA back and forth getting some info. Their stage 1.5 ls6 heads are looking very nice. I already have 0.650 springs on my car that I can swap over, so Im waiting for them to send me a quote minus springs/assembly.

I take it that you've worked with them before, any idea what their turn around time is?
