Airbrushing 1st Bike- CBR RR...Gotta See This

Hey, guys-
super excited about this one- i guess this will count as first actual customer, first actual street bike.

Now in the beginning when i met Rob he had an idea of airbrushing a dragon head on one side and a scene of some kind on the other. So i drew up an idea and when i went to show him- he was actually taken (can post pic if interested) by it and was like...you can airbrush this.

i simply said well so far! if i can draw it- i can airbrush it-but i want to draw it first to show the idea ( and to show my style and concept of art)

Then he tells me that he went to 5 people local and far with the first idea of a dragon full length of the bike...i am like, why am i drawing this side stuff then...he said he was denied by all 5 - saying it couldnt be done and that they would do the sides...for 1500-2700.00 quotes.

I said, well i like to try it and i def can be the prices. So I drew up the concept.

Idea:
In detail, The Dragon head will be on windshield breathing true fire do wards-towards tire. Flames will back draft the bottom of side plastics, i will also black out the shield and create off smoke effect to contrast fire. The tank will be neck and back with a warrior type chick riding the dragon. The side plastics will have the arms from the tank grabbing at some of the vent areas. The rear section will have the tail and leg effects.
I am going to to this in 3stages, basically the layout and color-shades and effect and once its all pretty much done i will add highlight drop shadows and maybe smoke streams for movement look....but its some thing i have for a while to tweek blend and really make - just a wicked bike.
I did search for idea's but didnt really find anything even close to this....well i tell you what...

Scales...i already hate them and damn, that girl gave me a run for my money. but i took extra time and care. Best part, other then taping the general out line of the dragons body (bike is a custom pearl orange-cant have overspray) and taping the rope off-to use some of the orange color/effect. Its 100% freehand and i have a massive amount of pics...so inf interested- ask...

mean time on with the show...

This is what i have done so far, Stage 1 for sheild and tank- just started the sides yesterday- fire and smoke highlights and drop shadows are stage 3.

Drawing Dragon

Drawing of Girl

Dragon Stage 1

Still have alot to add with this- note the see threw effect, i personally dont like it and main reason for the smoke/black back effect.

Girl Stage 1

I will be adding more with her, just kinda stoped at this point for the guy to view- before i added anything. I really try to include the person and different stages or steps for an even better out come and happier person.

Full Tank Front- Top view, Dragon Back and Rope

Random Step pics.

Front- area of neck

Side-note arm

Back- girl outline

Well that is that. I waited to post it- untill Rob (owner saw it today) and i was a little nervous but very happy with how happy he was- i didnt mention but during this some may notice the colors- there is are metallic and peals but most wont jump untill wet- meaning, clear coated - reason is, i color sanded the dragon (scales before the girl) kinda a neat trick i am trying to use to see if i can get the waist up (on girl) to look off the dragon. more sitting then laying, but we will see.

All in put is welcome, thanks

I honestly made the girl up! I didnt use any refferance in perticual. I kinda have always liked the fantacy art style - so I just kinda drew up the idea shown above.

Oh ok - igot what you talking about now, yeah its a anime style- i actually really dig anime stuff- although i still like adstracting it with more realism then just anime...

but i do like it- ill check out what you mentioned. But yeah its simular in styles...

I think myself personally i have simply collected features from different styles that i like and my syle really is just that- a mix of all kinds of stuff.

Thanks for the complament tho...apprecate it

The tail itself is deff going to need a make over- sees to plan, i do inteed to add effects and hightlights once done alone with some different stye swooshes for movement so maybe that will help

Well daylight deff helps the poor camera, (old 2g L4)

Anyway- got the other side done- just some small details to do on those panels.
I also did some on the Upper skirts or Flarings-what ever they are called...added the arms (dont like due to angles) and a lil fire.
The angle really makes such a simple thing hard. Not to mention on section (hand) is closer then the other section (arm)- just reall conturs. but for now I think itll do and ill mess with it later.

I also added the lil flame in the back, started the front fender...but not done with the fire (on all) so i will post once its done-done....

Should be tomorrow- will smoke effect around the head of the dragon and the fire breathing out the mouth.... Hurray!!!

Lookin good, great job

Thanks guys- its deff challenging considering my first swing at either, a dragon, a warrior girl or even a castle at that.
I think ill soend a day once the layouts are complete just cleaning things up here and there. Add some highlights and such, but over all- i do patt myself on the back with this one....

the time involved is ruff though, considering its coming out of my head....it took 7hours on the 1st castle but only 3hours today (kinda figured out how to do it).

so we will see...

10hours Dragon Head
37Hours Tank
12 Hours on Rear section
10 hours on both upper flares
13hours on both bottome flares
82 total so far

Goal is to stay under a 100hours to include clearing.
