Well, unless you can get the wires sooner, there really isn't much you can do. If the coil wire is arcing, you don't have power going to the distributor at that time, so you will have a dead cylinder each time that it arcs. Chances are that the problem is worse when you are actually driving (ie: when there is a load on the motor).
Have fun changing those wires (and make sure that you do plugs too)!
