Smoke at startup?

Uh-oh

I'm seeing some smoke at startup. It isn't blue (oil leak) and it isn't black (too much unburnt fuel) -- it's more of a wood fire gray. There is the strong small of gas. The engine is an 86 LG4 (4bbl Q-Jet). I think I might have pumped the gas petal too much before cranking it.

Is there something simple I can do to see if it an oil leak?

if it was grey it sounds like a little bit of extra gas combined with the condesation you see in cold air. no worries.
