anyone work for a chevy dealer?

I just bought a 2009 chevy cobalt ss turbo and I want to get the gmpp stage 1 upgrade done to it. I've called two dealers and they both said it would be 400 to 500 to install. I've done some research and it says it takes the dealer about 2 hours to do the upgrade. So i was hoping to spend 200 to 250 for the install. thanks

looking mostly in central jersey to get it done.

They probably just don't want to deal with it.

I'd offer to do it but were not GM anymore.

I did the upgrade kit on a few Solstices. If it's similar to the ones I installed there easy, the only thing you need the dealer for is to call and have the VIN number updated so they can download the new software.

One of the cars I worked on we installed the parts for the upgrade and we were not able to program it at the same time. The customer drove home and came back a day or two later for the programing. The check engine light was on but the car seemed to run fine.

edit- You don't have to go to a Chevy dealer. All GM dealership have access to the same software and information. As long as it's not warranty work you should be able to have any GM dealership install the upgrade kit.

I had the upgrade done in my old SKY at a saturn dealer, first dealer I went to refused to do it and the second said they had done several. I know that info doesn't help, lol, but it shows some dealers just don't wanna get involved. I think I paid around 280 total but that was with a mobil 1 dealer oil change (like 90 bucks).

call Hawthorne chevy, they were always good to me with my ss and denali.

well, I did the gmpp cai, dejon intercooler with aluminum piping and magnafow catback all at the same time within hours of the tune. they say you won't notice the gmpp upgrade right away because the car has to learn a little. However, with all I did, the car def. woke up. I think the gm tune was well worth it especially to keep it under warranty. when I traded it in, I took off all the bolt ons, but obviously the gmpp tune stayed. whoever got the car now probably didn't know it was done but the underhood sticker is there plus it'll come up in service records.

if gmpp happens to come out with a upgrade for the 1.4L turbo ecotec, ill most likely get it for my cruze, lol.
