Ferrari Fail

http://www.autoblog.com/2011/01/31/v...-ferrari-f150/

Pay attention to around the 1:40 mark when the Ferrari driver gives his story. Gotta love the Ferrari owner mentality.

well its easy to see what happened. there was a car in front of the ferrari, we'll call that car A, most likely waiting to turn into that driveway/business entrance. The F150 was in the driveway waiting to pull out. Car A probably couldnt pull in with the f150 in the way so they stopped in the road and motioned or let the truck pull out. Ferrari boy did not approve and wanted to speed up his journey through town so he said "F" car A and pulled around him, but just as the F150 pulled out. so really, the Ferrari drove into the F150...

Not many can say they flexed out their truck on top if a ferrari. I agree this was the Ferrari drivers fault.

I just read an article on how countries in Europe are starting to link individual's income with their speeding fine. Guys are getting $50,000-$300,000 speeding tickets in places like Switzerland for being dickheads in exotics. And they are pretty unsuccessful in any type of legal action against it.

Win for the owner of the truck that posts a pic of that in a thread of trucks perched on snow mounds.

The 8th Amendment comes to mind lol, though there is an Excessive Fines Clause.

Either way, to base a fine on someone's income is ridiculous. I'll stop there at that point.

But if you make $10 million a year, doesn't a $500 speeding ticket seem ridiculous, therefore making a $10,000 ticket seem not very "excessive"?

And I'll ninja edit your ninja edit. Go ahead and roll with it, I'd like to see what others think about it.

One's income should have no bearing on the fine imposed. So is the guy that makes minimum wage, driving a clapped out '87 Camry any less guilty or any less responsible for a speeding ticket or moving violation?

Well, I'll give you a real life scenario, not linked to speeding.

I do not recall the name, but there was a company in South Plainfield that had a lot of Hazmat waste to get rid of from their galvanizing plant. Properly disposing of it was something like $10 million. The fine for dumping it? $2 million. So what do you think they did?

I think it's the same type of deal here. If you make a ****load of money, a regular fine is a slap on the wrist. And we already pay taxes linked to income.

I get what your saying, I just don't know if I agree with it. Dumping hazardous material is a lot different than a speeding ticket. As far as the tax analogy, that doesn't do it for me since I don't think we should have an income based tax system.

But I do get what you're saying.

but the thing is if you can have a car which cost 500,000 or up near a million then even that 50,000 to 300,000 is nothing.

If you make 500k, and you get a 50k ticket, thats 10% of your income.
If you make 30k a year, and get a $300 ticket...thats 1%.
If you make a 1 mill a year, 300k is 30% of your income.
I have no problem with adjusted fines.
If you dont want to pay the fines, dont break the law.

now imagine Bill Gates got a ticket for lets just say 3% of his yearly income...

the fine would be $234 Million. (based on $7.8B a year)

If that happened im sure the town would get many needed public works projects done and the cop would wish they got a commission...
