Can you post up the price of the machine work when you're done? I'm debating building a motor or just buying one since LM has 408 shortblocks for pretty cheap.

Going to be about 1000 for the machine work. He quoted me before I left.

That's for the cleaning, new cam, rod, main bearings, bore/hone, checking the block polishing crank, filing of piston rings and complete assembly.

Includes the price of new main and rod bearings that he will be getting for me
I'll be just under 3000 for a full short block

May be a few things I missed

Who's LM? Livernois?

Yeah, I don't know how much shipping would be but they want $3500 for a 408 with a new block.

3k is a decent price I assume for a 370?

Shipping I'm pretty sure is another 200$ being freight though I don't believe they will deliver residential and then tax on 3500$. Probably looking closer to 4k

Its putting a little extra in my pocket and I don't have to dish out 3500$ in one shot. Since the entire build is being funded by side jobs

Block has finally been picked up from the machine shop

-Crank was cut and polished with new bearings
-Bore and hone .030"
-cam bearing r/r
-cleaning
-file fit ring and assemble
1273.16 w/ tax

So I am sitting at 3.2k for an assemble short block right now and still have alot more to spend to finish it approx 2.7k

You'll make some back when you sell off your old stuff. When are you going to have the longblock assembled?

For the time being I am just going to go with PRC 5.3's then while I have my heads off I probably will have them sent out and done by TEA, depending on how the car runs and feels with those heads.

Like I said my entire schedule was bumper up by 6 months since I need to get this done before I move so it put some strain on me financially to do it all of a sudden.

We shall see what comes in the long run once its tuned

I recommend you call TEA and get a quote. I supplied them my 243 heads and assembled the valve train myself making the total cost considerably less. With that said, I forget what valve springs you have with your current setup which may not like a MS3. They also had the heads back at my door 10 days after sending them out!

Have the PRC gold .650" duals right now with the v2, but I'm getting new.

Trying to minimize down time since the work won't be done at my house. Have less then three days to do it

If I can convince my buddy to let me send them out and have that down time at his place then I will probably do the stage 2 on the heads I have.

Not to thread jack, just throwing in what im doing. i have an LQ4 that i am making a 408 out of.
Using Weisco -3cc flat tops, Eagle forged H beams, and an Eagle forged crank.
Im using l92 heads with a little bit of work and a stock LS3 intake
I had Pat G spec me a cam and EPS is grinding it (236/242 .623"/.623" 114+2 LSA)
Looking for 500whp through a t-56.

Items forgotten/lost/incorrect

Forgot to order a rear main seal cover gasket (not main seal)

Lost the crank key for the gear that splines to the oil pump

Recieved an ls2/ls3 valle pan gasket

Just sent a 100$ order that should cover everything 8]

Thankfully the bigger stuff is out of the way. You going to assemble the MMs on the motor first, or on the kmember?

Sweet!
