Friends 91 Trans Am Vert interior redo.

Friend of mine has a 91 Trans Am Vert.. She asked me to "put some decent speakers into the car. Well that turned into redoing the interior from stained nasty grey to black..

I made the door panels, recovered the rear sail panels, made the speaker bump outs, redyed the carpet black, cleaned the gauges, modded the dash to fit the Polk Audio 4x6 speakers, sanded down the floor boards and threw a coat of rustolem on and made sure every screw was replaced..

I can tell ya its been a fun few weekends for me doing this. Its been a while since I've done a project like this. The interior needs a few things still, dash pad caps for the seat belt covers and lil crap that I hope Ted Gerlach has.. haha.

On to das pics..

What I started with for the interior.. This is the only before pic..

Looks good. A few months back my brother's 92 went from ugly red to interior to black.

Nice work. Seats look faded next to that carpet though. Could you dye them?

Haha. She could do it actually. I owed her money. Lol

The seats are ment to be grey.... She might get the black cloth gta seats I have in my vert eventually. Kinda doubt it tho they are comfortable.

Looks great! I'm not familiar with the inner workings of the 'verts - is there something in the way that forced you to bump out the rear speakers so much?

Yep the frame that ASC installed is there. Instead of cutting it apart to fit 6x9 speakers this was easier todo. The factory speakers were either 4x6 or 5" round speakers.

I might have a pic of the frame somewhere on my hd at home.

Rear speakers in verts are 5 1/4 w/limited space depending on the speaker magnet size even...he did the best thing there next to having whitesnake sitting shotgun.

Ok....I figured there was a good reason for it, just curious as to what that reason was.
