Tech Question: overflow/catch can

Old cars (like a 69 camaro) didn't come with catch cans/overflow tanks. For test & tune runs on an otherwise stock car is there a requirement to have a catch can? I figure there is but I wanted to verify.

Feather-light suspension, Konis just couldn't hold. I'm so glad I took a look inside your showroom doors.

-All cars must have a catch can for radiator overflow of at least 1 pint. These must be securely fastened (bolted or clamped). Factory overflow in most late-models is fine.

My Nova did not have one originally, but had one retrofitted from when it used to do track duty if that helps.
