Rev Maxx converters

Just wonderring what everyones thoughts are on these converters on Ebay? Will they be good for a bolt on LT1?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3805&viewitem=

I found this thread about them on LT1/LS1.com

http://www.ls1lt1.com/forum/showthread.php?t=34279

Cant beat the price. Think I might pick up a 3200. Give me as reason not to! Not the typical ( you get what you pay for) response. I had many expensive parts break on me as well as cheap parts.

You get what you pay for.. A cheap converter can turn expensive real quick if it breaks and takes out the transmission and radiator with it..

And a real Expensive converter can become even more expensive if it breaks and does the same! Everything no matter how good it is breaks! Broke a TKO Tranny in my roomates mustang. I guess you could say he got what he paid for with that tranny! I have broke 2 Spec clutches, and 1 Centerforce clutch. I think those are quality parts but they broke pretty much brand new.

What makes these Converters cheap? The price? Everyone that gets one says they love it and cant believe the quality of them! Seems like with a 3200 converter from them people see a .5 -.7 drop in there E.T. at the track! They have 100 percent feedback and alot of those feedbacks are from LS1/LT1 people.

For my plans with a bolt on LT1 car I really dont want to spend 800.00 for a converter that will be able to hold 1000.00 hp When I can get one that holds the power I am pushing for 260.00 shipped!

I guess you got it all covered then..

Just one thing though.. There is a difference between expensive parts and quality parts, just because you spent what you thought was alot of money on a part dosent make it a high quality piece. High strength materials like billet steel and roller bearings cost more than stamped steel and plastic thrust washers..

Good luck with your project..

My thoughts are that it's risky. Personally there are places I will cut corners and my driveline is not one of them.

What project? Its a stock LT1 that I want to put a TQ converter in! I really dont consider doing 1 mod a project! The car has a airfoil and will have a stall. That will be it with mods on the car! This car doest get beat on, will probably never go to the track or a dyno. It is just a nice cruising car that gets driven maby 6 days a month! The car is a 95 and just went over 70,000 miles. I just want to make it more enjoyable by adding a stall to it!

Thanks for the input! I wish GM would have done the same when they decided to put a POS 10 bolt in the 4th Gens!

Go for it its only a LT1, J/K.
Seriously go for it, but realize there is a big difference between a warmed over S-10 convertor and a billet.
Along as your not going to be throwing N/X or big power at it.
Keep your heat down and have at it.
I ran a Yank and loved it but by time I was done with buying it installed tune etc. I had $1600 into it.

And FYI theres a lot of guys in the elevens with their 7.5's.

Your running a Fuddle and your car didn't explode into little pieces after you put it in? I read on the internet that Fuddles not only broke your whole car but stole your girlfriend and kicked puppies.

I went the cheap out route with my converter and it is close to the top of the list of regrets I have with my car.

If I was going to be running 10 seconds like you then I would get the best out there and be willing to spend whatever it takes to get it! Like I said the Firehawk is driven about 2000 miles a year and is not raced or dynoed..

Cool man. That was another option I was looking into. Getting a used converter but I think I would want to be the 1st owner of a converter no matter if it is a cheap one or an exspensive one.

Exactly you "read" . Prostock John never seemed to have a problem w/ his in his 9 second LS. Nope car runs great, never had any problem. Fuddles problem was his customer service, not so much his converters...sure people had problems but that happens w/ all companies.

Thats just it man, sure if your worried about 1/4 mile times and trap speeds spend a grand on a converter...I really have no intentions on ever racing my current LS car, dont care to. I use to race my 97 LT1 and I would feel guilty afterwords about beating on it. All I know is my car leaves the traffic light 10 times harder then before and keeps me in a sweet spot while cruising w/ my "cheap" converter. It may not do it as good as a Yank or a Circle D but ill get over it lol.
