whos actually driven a spool on the street?

I want to talk to people who have actually run one on the street. Would you do it again? Why, why not? pros/cons

I have one in my car. Its not as bad as people say it is but then again I am very tolerant. If I had the extra money at the time I would have went wavetrac. Take turns wide and stay away from packed parking lots...

Not much fun, Did it years ago for a short time never again. maneuvering was the issue and squealing tires and tire wear. my misery could be attributed to the fact that I had manual steering also

I've got one, granted I don't DD the car I have no problems with it. I bought the rear used with the spool in it and it came with a locker also. I was worried at first and was going to swap out the spool but once I drove it I didn't mind it. Yes the car will hop if you try making tight turns so don't try anything like parallel parking and you'll be fine.

Ive had it in 2 of my cars so far, not as bad as people make it sound. only difficulty I ever found was trying to park between 2 cars in a packed parking lot.

Only time I broke a stud was by mistake, I have a habit of over tightening things. But I now have arp studs with the spool so who knows. They're cheap enough so why not run them.

Thanks for the input guys, I was thinking of saving a few bucks and going with a spool but, I think I'm just going to spring for the wave track.

Drove a locked rear on the road and it sucked. Have fun trying to turn into a parking spot.
Even worse was a Jeep with front and rear lockers... I swear I couldn't have turned around in a 50 yard radius with both locked lol.

I own a jeep with front and rear lockers. Its not that bad the front locker doesnt even engauge in 2wd.

I put 15000 miles and daily drove a 35 splined locker for years.........its not that bad at all. What many people fail to realize is with manual trans and decent power there are only 2 options to be truly bullit proof.......locker or spool. You cant expect to drive around on parts that can handle big power numbers and have it drive like stock.
