something diesel guys may like

I have always liked older trucks with gas engines, but a couple of years ago got a lot of interest in the diesel truck picture. I sold my 2002 6.0 silverado and picked up a low miles duramax diesel and will never look back. I did some minor mods to it and installed an Edge juice with attitude tuner with the hot 6 race tune, which woke it right up. I have many of friends with other diesels that put out huge power and take most sports cars at the track which I feel is damn impressive for vehicles that are over 7000 pounds. I found this video that im sure some of you may enjoy watching. If any of you have diesel trucks I would like to see some pictures and hear about them!

Here's another one of my favorites, duramax vs GTR. I was reading the youtube comments and the gtr owner was crying that it wasn't him racing this particular night, so the duramax owner challenged him to another race. This was also videod and had the same results lol

Cool story bro. Now sell your duramax and buy back your Z28 and your brother's Trans Am.

Your name isn't NJ Torque, why you own diesel?!

That is a good one. Buddy of mine has a 12 valve, lifted, and runs those times. Worst part is he isn't happy with that, is currently doing more to it and twin turbo hoping to reach 10s

Ya that is what I have. I had my eye on them since I saw them come out but never wanted to spend the 1100 for it. One day I was in the speed shop by me buying a couple things for the camaro and what display was in my face when I was checking out? The edge juice with attitude. For the hell of it I got talking to the guy and he saw that I was really interested told me if you pay cash today ill give you an awesome deal. I walked out of the store with the whole kit with the touch screen for 850 cash! I know that there are much better toons out there, and duramax trucks are sick with efi live, ut I love the edge.

What kind of sensor attachments did you get? pyro and boost?

A CTS display is my last real purchase I want/need to make for the truck.

Im not sure what you are referring to by sensor. The only one that I can think of that is added with the edge was the egt probe, which I tapped into the passenger side manifold.

You can add sensors for readings to be displayed, you got the EGT sensor add on..

You can also get a manifold boost sensor and tons of other stuff that you can daisy chain into the CTS.

Correct, that is one reason I like the cts, I have like 6 different things displayed on my screen, you can put quite a lot on there, from rpm, boost, to speedo and fuel level. Most of what you are talking about is built in the cts, you don't have to add anything. The egt probe is the only thing I had to technically install in the truck. Everything else plugs right into the harness

I can't justify owning a diesel; especially if you want to "go fast" in it.

Cool that something like Joe's truck can run mid 12's at 7,000+ lbs but for the price of his transmission + exhaust you can build a car that would blow it's doors off... needless to mention the initial purchase of the vehicle.

I guess by mid July we'll see if I'm right. Just totaled the budget on the S10 from start to finish (buying the truck, tires, drivetrain, etc) and it's right around $4,800.

Big trucks are still made for towing. You can make anything fast with money.

You are mistaken my friend, I will put money as they stand right now your z28, gearing and all...wouldnt be able to pull away from my mildly modified duramax. Sad but true, I know this. because without race tune I tried it with my z28 and wasn't successful.

So a diesel with 5 tunes stored on the ecm, getting +20mpg, tow whatever you want, and run 12s easy is not as good as a fbod.

Lulz ok

I'm not following, you people seem to have some sort of thinking that a 7,000 lb diesel truck can be made faster than a gas car?

Anything can be force fed extra air and made fast... oh my lord. A 9 second full weight Silverado 1500 pulling from a ZX14?!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnF9NV7_5Gc

Must be fake.

And I am not getting into what my car will or will not do because right now I just have a ton of parts laying around. I don't think comparing a bike will be fair.

You're not getting the point, but I doubt you will get it. I can show you a dozen local trucks with minor mods that would pull on your z28. Not only on dry pavement, but rain, and even snow. Its just how it is, and im not talking about joe or steve. It is impressive when a gtr gets beat by not only a 2500hd truck, but a 4 door one at that.

And a set of drag radials and a small shot would quickly change that... and I'd still have less than $2,000 into my car including buying my car.

But we can go further into this. Can you honestly say 90% of the diesel trucks in the county with anything done to them were bought for anything other than blowing smoke or going fast?

I am trying to say for the price tag, I can not justify the majority of the diesel owner's logic. Cool, a 7,000 lb truck can run 11's, 12's or even 13's but with a $15,000 price tag to buy a half descent older diesel it just isn't worth it.
