Its an "unheard-of" type brand, but on my LG4, it sounded wicked. If you have a Meineke around you, go there and ask for a Vortex Exhaust. I have a video clip of it somewhere, Ill post it up when I find it.

*EDIT* I felt the performance gains, along with a hi-flow cat, your really waking the motor up

What sounds best is a very subjective question. I have a flowmaster 3" american thunder catback on my car. At first I really liked it but after I added headers I felt it was a little too loud. I also didn't like the loud interior drone at cruising RPM. I just got a Dynomax Ultra Flow 3" in 3" out muffler for xmas. It's louder at full throttle than the super turbo you have but it's a little quieter at idle and cruise RPM than my flowmaster which is what I'm looking for.

It depends what you are looking for. I have heard nothing but good things about Hooker. If you want loud an SLP loudmouth or a Gale Banks muffler might be what you want. You might like the Dynomax Ultra Flow as well, Dynomax makes good mufflers sometimes people say they suck because they've had the super turbo model which is very quiet and everyone wants loud.

The Banks system sounds awesome on a 3rd gen. A friend of mine has one on his '87 TPI 305 car, and it's niiiiiiiiice.

I also am a big fan of Hooker mufflers, especially the Aerochambers. I have them on my car and they sound great; plus, no drone inside the car. Flowmaster is known for their interior drone. If you wanna have a conversation with passengers in your car, stay away from Flows.

I just surfed a bit, and couldn't find anything. You may wanna try calling Banks directly - get the number from www.bankspower.com. They're totally into Diesel power now, but they still sell twin-turbo Chevy setups so they might still have their 3rd gen cat-back available.

You'll mind it as you get older! I had the Flowmaster American Thunder on my old 93 Z28 and it sounded great with no drone at all. Exhaust sound is a personal preference so it's really tough to figure out what you might like. I ran dual Hooker Aerochamber mufflers on my 68 and they had a nice rumble at idle, nice a quiet at cruise under 3000 rpm's and got really aggressive and loud uner WOT. I've heard the Hooker cat-back on a 94 Z28 with headers and it sounded great on that car as well. But the sound depends on what other mods the car has. My 93 was definitely louder when I had the supercharger on the car.

I had SLP's "two out the left" cat back on my 87 GTA. It was a L98 car, but I thought it sounded great. fairly quiet under normal driving conditions, but had great tone to it. When I romped on it though, it got pretty loud.

I need to stop thinking about that car, I miss it everytime I talk about it.

Best one I ever heard was the Banks system mine used to have. But right before I sold it, the muffler started to fall apart, so I bolted a dynomax in it (same pipes), and that sounded nice too.

ok screw sound thats what my cut out is for!...whats the best flowing muffler that I can gain some nice hp and torque?

Where should I have the cut out installed? in front of the cat or behind the cat? I just want it to sound like open headers with the cat open I dont really care about performance gains...

they all flow about the same and the muffler itself is too far down the system to make any dramatic effect on performance anyway. so jsut shop for a tone you like or save teh coin and get a flowmaster like everyone else.

What he said. Dynomax might be fairly affordable too.
