CCC computer

OK guru's, i have an 84 bird with an LG4 in it. Planning on dropping a crate engine 350 (290HP) into it. Now I know the carb is big enough to handle the added power but I have to retain the computer to pass the new emissions up here in NY. If I swapped in the PCM from a Vette would it work with the 350 or still be too lean? Should I just change jets in the the stocker or can I just leave it alone and run the 350?

Prolly best to hop on TGO and post up in the carb section. There are a few guys there who can really tell you exactly what you need to keep that carb happy on top of a 350.

82-84, I just don't know if the Vette harness uses the same pins as the F-body. If they have the same sensors it could work.

the carb was cleaned up by steves carb shop in lyndhurst, all of the TGO mods and opened the airvalve to the full 750cfm...he also knocked out the caps so you can adjust the idle mixture

ive also got a few rods and hangers to tune the secondaries..

Trucks came with 350s and computers. 81 Vettes, I think, is the only car. No 83 Vette. 82 (I think) & 84 Vettes all CFI.

But I would think all you might need is custom chip burn and your current ECM. I would think swapping ecms might be a PITA, worrying about pinout changes and such.

it isn't the computer, it is the chip that makes the difference. with a 290hp motor, something no CCC car or truck ever came with, you should get some custom programming done.

I didn't know you could burn for a pre 86 computer, I will have to look into that. Thanks

All 83s are nitro-methane cars.

Well.... to be 100% correct and techincal... there were 1983 corvettes produced. 40 in total, and all for testing purposes. When they were done, 39 of the 1983 corvettes were destroyed. ONE '83 still exists today at the corvette museum in Bowling Green KY.

Yeah yeah, sure sure. If couldn't buy one, it didn't exist. There is a similar story about the 1975 Z28.

Do a search over at TGO under "ZZ4 conversion". Gm used to offer an emmision legal conversion package for lg4's and L69's to their ZZ4 crate motor. The package included part #'s for the proper ecm, knock sensor, esc, and a custom zz4 chip. Even though the pakage is discontinued you might be able to find the other parts individual floating around ebay and such.
