The 000 Corvette Grand Sport belongs to Ken Menella. He's been an instructor for Trackmasters for a number of years. He and several other Trackmasters instructors run most of the SVRA events. He blitzes my '02 Z28 at Watkins Glen HPDE events. Car is beautiful and fast.

I would love to make it out to an HPDE with an instructor. That sounds like an amazing experience to get instruction from a guy that intense.

Great pics by the way! That GT1 Vette gives me a warm feeling in my pants.

I do HPDE events with a number of different organizations. The best organization I've encountered is trackmasters. They run virtually all of their events at Watkins Glen. Two runs groups per event: a student group running with in-car instructors (Ken Menella among them), and an Open Track group running solo. Usually up to 4 hours of track time per day. Student groups also have classroom instruction during the open track sessions to reinforce on track learning and enhance progress. Events with student groups are level specific- meaning only one student level group at each event. No multiple level groups, so you run with people of similar skill and experience. Their instructors are highly experienced, many are current or former racers. The their schedule page is: trackmasters.com No, I don't have any financial connection to them. They are just a great and safe group to run with.

I remember that R8 and the 96 car for Watkins Glen last year. Owner of the R8 is an aerospace engineer and has a crew for the car. bought it (used 05 model) for a said 1.2M. If its the same one. Last year before they went diesel.

It is sweet. quite and simply pulls on most anything on the track. wicked quick. stunning by design and awesome to watch. I'd def rock it.
