ruined cam

pulled out my 50kmile comp cam and its chewed up. on some lobes at max lift where the lifter rides its more pressed in and the edges of the lobe have a ledge.
not too worried since i was going with a different cam for my new build, but curious of why its like this(to prevent it in the future)

Too much spring pressure, too little spring pressure, bad lifter, or too much preload.

Not enough valve control does lovely things

The cam lobe is delaminating. We see this quite often at my shop with police vehicles. You should replace the lifters aswell since there a good chance that the lifter roller is equally damaged.

This is from that motor that you said had valvetrain issues in the past that you ignored?
