Question In need of a job

Not that I want to sound desperate on a forum posting a thread like this up, but it's worth a shot. I'm an 18 year old guy looking to pay some bills, anyone know of something around Atlantic County hiring? In this economy, employers all want years of experience and it's hard for people my age and generation to get anywhere (can't get it if you're not given a shot). I've done all the online application b.s and it leads to no results, so i'll go a more direct approach.

Military! I am only a reservist but from what I was told by fellow Marines and always by my instructors was to go active. My first year so far in the Marine Corps has been amazing. Find a branch of service and see if they have any jobs that your interested in! Either way good luck!

Thought about Naval Reserve in the mean time, looking at the Master at Arms rating since I want to go into law enforcement after college. Trying to keep that on the back burner and stay in civilian world if I can.

Check local car dealers. I worked as an oil change tech/shop helper/detailer throughout college. Hours are flexible, its a great time esp if you like cars, free use of the shop, uniforms, free oil (was changing mine every 1500) and discount of parts from their suppliers. Some advertise for help and some don't...either way they'll keep your resume if they don't have openings.

I was in the Navy for 9 yrs.. Dont do MA. Your will be standing at a gate letting cars in for 14 hrs a day.. I did that for 6 months and it sucked. Join as a engineering job and go to school while in the navy for free.. Having military experience is a great thing to have on a resume!!

AT ( Aviation Electronics Tech)
AE ( aviation Electrician)
ET ( Electronics Tech)
CT ( Crypto Tech)
IT ( Information Tech)
AM ( Aviation Machinest) I believe

You want to stay away from undesignated, Aviation Ordance..

The problem with being a MA is that you will be a gate gaurd, or Brigg watch.. All the Military police now are mostly civilians on the Navy bases..

Take the Asvab and see how you do on it. The recruiter will try to get you into a crap job that they really need people for. Sometimes they give you a signing bonus for these jobs which is good if you just want to do 4 years and get out but if you want to make a career out of the Navy then your sorta stuck! I was a Aviation electronics tech and my 1st year was just schooling in Florida and Washington State. I have about 65 college credit hours from all the schooling the navy gave me.

If you want someone to go with you to talk to a recruiter just let me know. I dont mind going to see recruiters with friends who are interested in joing the military.

The aviation engineering jobs are split into 2 sectors... The guys who troubleshoot the Airplanes themselves and pull the radar boxes and stuff like that from the plane and the 2nd sector is what I did.. I troubleshot the boxes that those guys pulled to find the circuit board/ componant on the board that was bad.
