For those who want to see the common "Breakage" of 4L60E's ...pics inside.

Long story short, Buddy of mines sister,is a single mom w/2kids. No 1st. or reverse in her car, so John asked me for a fAv.
I have built & rebuilt everything under the sun....except transmissions.

Here it is, 4L60E, common breakage is the Sunshell. Teeth usually strip out or the flange breaks off. In this case, Flange broke.

This is a "Freebie", so I"m just doing a quick fix, replacing the sunshell, filter, gasket,seals & pump oring/seal than going back together. Figured I'd post pics for the guys that never seen the inside of one. This is my last "good deed" for the year...I hope!!! lol

ive broke 3 LS1 4L60s.... i shoulda just went T56 the first time !

1 came broken, 2nd was clutches... had that replaced... and then this...






now im built so its all good... for now

Actually meant to type 1st. & reverse... dont know why i typed 4th.

And usually the symptoms are 1st. & reverse. I guess depending on where its broken, may change which gears you loose.

my truck lost reverse 2nd and 4th when it broke... i thought those were what was lost when u messed this up

i grenaded my 65e in my silverado SS merging onto rt 4. caught the 30 mph downshift into first and got nothing but rev limited lol. it held up 8 months after the supercharger i think it did good actually. limped it home and bought a unit from Finish line Transmissions

Nice pics and info!

have a 98 jimmy, shudders going into reverse the first time when its cold and sat over night. any insights? i heard it might be a seal or something with the pump. just had the fluid changed and still does the same. also second seems really 'soft' it used to jump into second like a shift kit but not anymore its really soft and a slow shift.
