It would provide far less headaches when inspection time comes around....

Uhh Justin means to put high flow cats on your car would mean lots less problems with the police, inspection, etc.

Put high flow cats on the car unless you can't afford to now and can afford to have it done later.
You will not gain that much HP by leaving them out, and your exhaust may be more "raspy".

I put the cats on my 2000 SS when I did longtubes last year. I only had 1 cat on at first until I had enough time to put the other in the y-pipe, and even with 1 cat it was an ugly raspy sound. It will help with inspection and if you get pulled over by the police.

No. A car that has a really loud exhaust with no cats will sound more raspy. The addition of cats will make the exhaust note less abrasive.

I ran an ORY-pipe for several months with pacesetter headers. I got pulled over by an azzhole cop and was informed that i will not have a warning the next time I was pulled over without cats. As far as i know, its a $10,000 penalty and impound of the vehicle (can someone confirm?) It is actually for the better, cuz it sounds so much nicer, and like most said, that extra HP loss doesnt mean sheeit, i barely noticed a difference. But if you plan to lower/have lowered your car, double-check for clearance, both off the ground, and by the fuel lines. Dont be like me and wait a cpl weeks after installation to flip the fuel line brackets due to excessive "buzzing and rattling" with the cats against the lines, as well as avoiding every small bump in the road. That makes for some real fun

Do the cats. Not just for the sake of inspection and the cops, but to stick it in the azz of all the liberal, soy-eating loudmouth know-it-all hippies who love to piss and moan about how our passion for motorsports is killing mother earth, maaaaaaan.
When I had to put a new cat on the Jeep, I went with a Dynomax high flow 3-way cat that set me back about $60. And I'd do it again. Some enthusiasts can be our own worst enemies by skating on things like cats, mufflers, proper lighting, etc, and then they sit there and blame everyone else for a problem they created. If the car is getting driven anywhere besides the track, make sure it's safe and not spewing toxins in the air. You'll feel that much better the next time some smug, sandal-wearing Smart Car driving hippie tries to chastise your choice of transportation.
