Haven't done one on the Camaro, but have done several on late Dodge Dakotas and Acura MDX. Most modern cars trap the heater core inside the HVAC box and bury it in/under the dash. Usually means extensive removal and disconnection of dash electricals, A/C, etc., etc., etc.. It is a time consuming and complex deal in most cars- especiall in terms of disconnecting and reconnecting all of the electrical connections without forgetting any.

I'd suggest you get a hold of a Helms manual or access some detailed database and check into the procedure before starting to take things apart. My first Dakota heater core took me 4 days in my driveway. The third one (check the quality of the replacement part carefully before installing it- if it's defective you get to take it right out again! Ask me how I know.) took my son and I just over 4 hours in his shop. Be patient; label things; good luck!

we didn't yank the dash out in my buddies 92 TA.

The one thing we did which I don't think you can with a Camaro (since you don't have one), is pull the dash pocket out on the passenger side and get to the blower box screws through that. I think we pulled the dash pad out to get to the top bolts.

That was about it.

i just did my bird recently, i was able to remove all the screws and get the core out by just removing the underdash panel on the passengerside, i dont have a computer, but you may have to drop that to get a little more room.

It tight in there, a 1/4" ratchet will come in handy

Just make sure you get all the screws out before you try to pull the box apart and break things, like whoever replaced mine back before i bought it....

3rd gen cores are child's play. You can get it out from under the RH side of the dash. Maybe pull the pass seat out just to make access easier. If you have access to compressed air, maybe blow out the core before you take it out just to minimize fluid loss in the car.

Now, a 2nd gen, well, that sucks eggs. And IIRC a fox body mustang is a terrible h/c to do as well.

kinda. just need to mix a few 1/4" extensions and swivels together and allow your elbow to bend the other way and its accessable.

took me about 40 mins the first time. just take the bottom panel off, dont bother with the dash pad, its no use, trust me. the bolts are easy, i did it with just a 1/4 drive socket-driver.
