Aftermarket alarm no start.

Very sorry for this to be my first post but it can't be helped. First, this car has had no charging or starting issues since I bought it. Disconnected negative battery cable to clean, reconnected. 4 ways start blinking, no click when I turn the key. This was first time I disconnected battery in 6 years I've owned the car. Car has DEI components (motion sensor and another small black box that may have to do with door locks). My two GM key fobs which I nor the previous owner ever used, don't do anything. The alarm never functioned on this car before. Tried other battery, same thing. If I rip this after market junk out will the car go back to normal, or will something need to be reset or cleared from the factory security. Thanks for any info. -John

Look under the dash, like by the steering column for a little silver toggle switch. There may be one hidden to reset the system.

You can remove the alarm system, but some wires may need to be reconnected.

If its an aftermarket system like you're mentioning, the OEM key-fobs wouldn't do anything anyway.

Also, what year is the car and other info?

It's a 94 z-28. Stone stock. Automatic.
I can't find the toggle switch, do they all have them?

not all, no. but many aftermarket systems have it and its sometimes refereed to as a valet switch. A few cars that I've stripped have had it.

If you take you're time you should be able to remove the alarm yourself.

anywhere they used a "t-crimp" connector will need to be inspected to make sure the wire is not damaged and then would need to be taped over to prevent future issues. Also, any wires that were cut and lead into the alarm box, would need to be reconnected properly.

The stock security system should be fine and would not need to be reset.

V,
So am I on the right track in thinking this is an aftermarket issue, not the factory vats/security problem?
Also, when you say alarm box, what are you referring to.
Thanks alot for the response, It's much appreciated.

I just had this happen to my blazer but it didn't have an alarm. I'm no expert in alarms but first thing is go through all your under hood fuses and dash fuses.
