got called out
a friend with a GTO (the one with the single exhaust) called me out. its a 6spd with street tires and hes never raced at the track as far as i know. what do you think the odds of him running better then a 13.0 are? i told him we should put some money down to make it interesting. im thinkin $200. AFAIK he only has a cat back and maybe CAI.

Josh, honestly with the mods listed, lack of driver experience, street tires, etc...i think the odds of him running better than a 13.5 are slim...
Single exhaust IIRC means LS1...2004-ish?
Like said above, easy money.

when my car was just full exhaust, cai and tune I ran an LS1 gto 6-speed with a borla, got him by about a car twice (he wanted to go again after i beat him the first time).
go for it bro, you shouldn't have any problem beating him, especially since he's never been down a track before.

I love how people are saying "easy money" when it's not their money. You should be able to take him but, anything can happen. Only bet what you are willing to lose and, make the rules clear before you get to the track.

the money part I can understand why your stressing cause no one ever wants to lose money.
the fun part about a race like this is hey this guy spent lets say what like $3X,XXX on this car if he bought it brand new plus mods. and you have a 96 that you more than likely bought used so the cost of your car plus mods maybe somewhere around $10,000 (just taking a wild guess I have no idea) I personally always got a huge kick out of beating cars that were worth sooo much more than mine. Dollar for dollar he should win...but he won't

Who cares how much money was spent, the only thing that matters is what happens at the big end.

yeah i have less then 10k in the car actually im gonna say a 2.2+ 60ft for him possibly with a red light. and im more then willing to let him look under my hook so i can look under his. hes the kind of kid thatll go out and drop a bunch of money on a N20 kit and i know his car is in the shop right now. but hes also the kind of kid thatll brag about it to me before the race so i should have a good idea what hes running.

yeah i only race at the track. it wont be this week because the car is in the shop for something but ill be there tuesday regardless. he has no idea what i run or whats done to my car. he just thinks its a 12 year old POS with out dated technology. i will however need someone there to hold the money from both parties for when the race is over. im not doin the whole "you cheated im not paying you" thing

this is true, I'm just saying this cause of the rich kids I used to deal with all the time who would go out an buy new sports cars and claim them to be the fastest thing on wheels, until of course I proved to them otherwise...
p.s.- this gto guy sounds like he might be another LSX owner doubting the power of the LT1

LS1 GTO's are dogs in stock form. Chances of him running better than a 13.8 are slim... I absolutely embarassed one twice months ago in my TBSS. I'm talkin 10 cars by 60, and that was before the stall! Then started from behind and walked around him like he was standing still at the next light. Cool guy, said best he got his to was a 13.8.

Didn't mean to come off the wrong way if I did. It's just one of the guys with a supercharged GT thinks he can use that excuse to spend an equal amount of money from the price of my car and mods to his to make it and equal race. I told him anytime he wants to run I'll embarrass the crap out of him. He always backs down, but talks ALOT of smack.
