LQ9 under way

well i got home from work to see that my 6.0L was waiting for me. so before the storm hit i rushed to get the motor off the pallet and onto the engine stand.

after i got that done i stripped the wiring harness off the motor. took off the intake manifold and pulled the starter.
not much progress today but should be able to get the rest of the parts off tomorrow

ill have more pics up to keep you guys posted on the swap.

i also got my fast 90 in!

Are you running it with the stock heads and cam? How do they do with the ls1 style intake manifold? i know they are rated at 345hp/380 ft lbs with the truck gear. Should be a good boost in power overall

yea im running the stock 317 heads and the stock cam in the motor. it should be a decent power increase over the stock ls1. and ill be adding the fast intake to it along with some longtubes and maybe even an underdrive pulley.(not sure on the pulley yet)

but i couldnt pass on the deal that i got on the complete lq9

its going to add some weight to the front but i dont drag this car so it isnt going to bother me. but ill be making more power with this stock 6.0 over the ls1 i had.

little update to end the day.
got the rad/fan out of the car, and removed the what appears to be an aftermarket aluminum driveshaft. looks like a gm number but didnt come up on gmparts direct. (Three Rivers 12560725)

started bolting parts to the 6.0 so i dont misplace anything lol and placed the fast on top to get an idea.
also spent a good amount of time cleaning up the LQ9 to make it look a little nicer

Thats a stock driveshaft. They all used Three rivers but have 3 different numbers 98-99 had a parts number that was discontinued but its the same shaft.

well i got a little more done today. probably the last time ill get a chance to touch the z before i leave for myrtle beach.

got the passanger exhaust manifold off. swapped valve covers to the new motor. pulled the p/s pump off and swapped the p/s bracket and alternator, and sensors to the new motor. looks like all thats left is just to drop the trans down and pull the broke ass ls1 out of there.

i have one delco filter left so ill be running that. no frams for me lol.

well today is my last day in sc. cant wait to get home and start working on her some more. i hope to have the trans out tomorrow. im starting to get the itch to drive my car again lol.

i also couldnt get my hand on an ls7 clutch being its on backorder so i ordered me a nice stage 2 monster clutch with lightweight chromoly flywheel so ill probably be swapping rears sooner then i wanted to lol.
