355 tpi..forged..built by JSperformance..$2000 - SOLD
Had this built late 2008 by Josh at JS for my Monte Carlo SS which I have since sold. I was going to put the engine into an IROCZ or something similar that needed less body work than the monte..but plans changed and I got a 4th gen SS. I'm sure Josh remembers the engine and can answer any more technical questions..as all I really know aside from what he gave me on paper..is that it made my Monte SS FAST.
Engine built by JS Performance- Here is the spec sheet he provided
Engine has about 2500 miles on it.
355 sbc
3970010 casting
4.030 bore
honed with torque plate
line honed
deck milled .020
durabond cam bearings
new freeze plugs
screw in oil galley plugs
blueprinted and assembled
gm crank cut .010 and polished
trw forged flat top pistons
trw moly ring set
scat I beam connecting rods w/ arp bolts
king rod and main bearings
pioneer 153 tooth flex plate
pioneer 6" balancer
trw pins pressed on and rotating assembly balanced
howards hydraulic roller cam
speed pro hydraulic roller linked lifters
sa double roller timing set
melling HV oil pump and pickup
comp prod cam button and retainer plate
fel pro gaskets and seals
Heads-
882 casting
1.94 intake valves 1.5 exhaust
bronze guides
pocket ported
surface milled
machined for pc seals
assembed with new springs and retainers
comp prod. valve spring and retainer set
comp cams push rods
elgin 1.5 ratio roller tip rocker arm set
cometic MLS head gaskets

Also has a new 88 Vette distributor
Asking $4000 obo for the engine....

Engine comes with TPI computer, and would be ready to drop in your car and go.

******Price DROP***********
I'm looking to get a t56 swap setup for my Camaro and found one complete in Rochester. At this point I dont plan on using the engine for anything so for it to sit regardless of all the money I will lose I would rather see someone use it!!
$2500
and that will cover my t56 parts..so I'd be happy as hell with that. I can also deliver it.

my loss is your gain...if anyone is doubting whats in this engine you can call Josh over at JS I'm sure he would be able to verify as he built it.

Unfortunately no. I never dynoed it or ran it at the track. To be honest I rarely got to drive the car when the engine was finally done. It was done in January 09 with snow on the ground and I lost my job a few weeks later. So it basically was driven around in the summer just a few miles a week if that. Then I bought the Camaro in December so it sat for a few months before I pulled the car apart.
I will PM josh at JS and see if he has any idea, maybe he can chime in here.

hmm i was thinking about going 454 in my 78, however why stay old school when i can upgrade! how easily would a comped engine go into a classic all mechanical car? ive never done anything like that, all i've done is changed trannies a few times haha, also do u have any ballpark figures for hp/fpt?

Steve, post up the cam card so all the experts can have an idea of what kind of power this engine makes.. Its a good runner as is but can still be upgraded to make more power if desired..

The Camshaft is
Howards 110245
Valve Lift- .504/.504
Duration 280/292
gross lift- .336/.336
Degree @ .050 222/230
and if someone wants to trade me parts + cash, I'll take some LS1 parts. SLP or Spohn. Not interested in any gen 1 sbc stuff..
Also not interested in people who like to waste time.

Just curious as to why you stayed with the smaller valves when most people go with the bigger ones....

dont know anything about engine building so as to why..i dont know why. but i can tell you that at the time the plan was to change the heads and intake manifold down the road, so the heads are probably very mild
