Car wont start - Grand AM GT

Hey, hoping to find some advice for a good friend of mine. Its a 2001 Grand AM GT 3.4L V6 93xxx and past few days its been actin up. Basically the car was fine (all lights were on, dash lights etc) went to start up and as soon as the key reached the start position, everything died. took the key out and the interior lights didnt come back nor the dash lights.

however, when the key is in the ACC position, the SES is the only light on. When the key is out, theres a slight popping from the speaker. so i am assuming pwr is making its way around.

battery is new as of 4/09 so i dont think its that, also has a new alt as well.

any ideas of where to look? maybe a bad conn or something? it did this this morning but some how managed to get to school.

thanks!

Pull the terminals off. pull the 5/16" bolts out of the boots & pull back rubber boots from eyelets.. I am sure you will see corrosion where the bolts mate the eyelets.

wiz wheel/wire wheel them, spray some terminal anti corrosive spray on them and reinstall.

let me know if that is not the problem.
