Another for Magna-flow, you can't argue with affordable stainless steel exhaust!
I also have a cut-out that makes the car sound pretty beastly.
30 seconds in, when the brake lights come on is open cut-out.

seriously, no one runs that setup and I have no idea why. it sounds awesome and flows so well that most racers pick up more power when they put those mufflers on their race cars.

I know why, it carries way too high of a price tag. It costs almost double what the Maganflow does and only holds a couple HP gain at most. My Mag was only 3 RWH behind open headers on the dyno, my loudmouth (when I had it) was 8RWH less then open headers so the full Magnaflow exhaust flowed better then a bullet muffler when dyno'd on the same day on the same dyno. I know it didn't make any sense to me either (turbulence maybe?) but that's what numbers we came up with, so take it FWIW. That doesn't leave alot of room for improvement. I'll sacrifice the 1-2RWH to have $300-$400 in my pocket. Just my $.02
-The spintech does sound bad-ass though!

i like the sound of dynomax bullets, but they are too loud... i've always been partial to magnaflow. they sound awesome on most cars. its hard to pick just one

I don't even have a full system, just the replacement muffler and that alone sounds great.

Actually, my Spintech replacement muffler cost the same as the Flowmaster replacement.

Another vote for Spintech. I have the 4" cat back with the single out. I've gotten allot of complements about how the car sounds and it's not obnoxious like the flowmaster or loudmouth when cruising!

Couldn't agree more! I had a Flowmaster which I thought sounded great, till it rusted out and I had a Spintech installed which sounds even better (without the drone).

I have a flowmaster on my 3.1L. Has a throaty idle but raspy when in higher RPM's. For V8's I would have to say the GMMG Chambered exhaust sounds the best.

GMMG on a LS1
SLP Loudmouth -lt1
Flowmaster-mustang
My exhaust- stock manifolds with SLP Y-pipe and LM2
Headers without a cam is a waste of money on 01-02 fbodies (stock manifolds will flow great up to 400+HP)

I'll try to get a vid this weekend.
Details of my set-up: My Y-pipe and exhaust were all built by Mufflex. Engine is a stroker (383) with a supercharger, jethot long tubes, 3" y-pipe with 3" dynotech cats just behind the header collectors. The Y-pipe merges into a 3" and 4" out collector. Not the 3" in/out with a step pipe to merge the Y to the intermediate pipe. Then back to the muffler I have the single in/single out and the tail pipe cut level with the bumper.
Spintech does offer dual outs as well. that is slightly quiter. and you can get any exhuast pipe if want to keep the stock locations.
A friend has longtubes, no cats and loud mouth on his 97Z. With the two cars sitting side by side, At idle my car is louder and deeper sounding, and you can barely hear his, at around 2,000 RPMs his car is slightly louder, but starting to get raspy, above 4,000 you can't hear my car!
On my 84Z I had edelbrock headers gutted cat and the Flowmaster cat back and it was louder then my Spintech. I hated the Flowmaster on long hauls.
And before NJSpeeder says it! ( and it's true!) It's because I'm old and don't like really loud exhuast systems.

John, which spintech muffler did they put on the car? I know they (spintech) offer several, but I don't know which one(s) Mufflex uses.

It's the race series: 4" opposite in/out (refers to the inlet/outlet being on opposite corners of the muffler) verus the striaght thru in/out being in the center. I think the part number is 1664.

Exhaust is really tough to compare especially when the engines are so different. Heck, my cheap Summit turbo mufflers sound pretty good on the SS396. The V-Force sounded insane on it but that was too loud for me to enjoy cruising around with. Most of the mufflers listed sound good on these cars but the overall engine combo will determine the best sound. And sound has nothing to do with the exhaust that makes the best power.
