Yet a other project hehe

Yet a other project I have cooking up well my uncle is an ex-state trooper and had a strode kit from a totaled uncover squad-car so he gave them to me and I was like why the hell not put them in my car. So I did and they work but there not as bright as the real police cars and it takes 40 second for them all to come on. They have a capacitor that is always charged or charging when the car is running, but I think some of them are dead how can you check if a cap is charging or holding charge?..

take it off and touch both the leads.....

once you stop screaming, get a analog multimeter, put it on continuity, and test between both leads. If its good, the needle will bounce.

I'm not a ton of help with the electronics....just wanted to make sure that you knew that if an officer happens to notice these on your car you can get the book thrown at your for impersonating a police officer.

Most towns you can get on a regular scanner... they are digitally encrypted and trunked, fyi...

Hey, you are your own man. Its your responsibility to make sure to keep yourself out of trouble but I will tell you this, If you do turn those on, on a public road (for whatever reason). You are looking at getting into some serious ****, personally I think it would probably look pretty cool but I would never take the chance of installing something like that on my car. Since you got them from your uncle who is a retired trooper, what is his opinion on this?. I know my uncle who is a New York city detective sergeant would stroke out if he found out I did something like this.

i'm sorry, i left the T off of there, lol.

you cant just buy a regular scanner... as far as a "police" one... you would need to know the freq... like i said, most towns are trunked.

you can get rescue squads and fire departments fine though.

i'm pretty sure he doenst have one. and if he does, and hes retired he wont have his id to key it anymore...

if you really want to be noticed, get LEDs rather then strobes... much less draw, also you can have the car off for hours and have the leds running and not have a dead battery.. and no clicking noise like the strobes do
