Crazy Starter price.

Well I bragged about my fuel pump working fine and my starter croaked..

for the LT4 starter P/N # 10455709 , the lowest price Ive seen is $300

Autozone has one for $150........ Im not a big fan of non OEM stuff , though.

Any thoughts?

I was under the impression that they were much better than Lt1's . At least according to LS1tech. I never thought to just look up a regular LT1 starter lol. On it now.

They probably just tack on the "Corvette Tax" for the LT4 starter. I paid around $180.00, roughly 5 years ago for my LT1 starter. Guess they went up a bit since then.

Even though its not the same, my L98 motor went thru 2 rebuilt starters just last year within a couple of weeks of being installed. As soon as the car got hot and I shut it off, it would not start for like an hour after and then when it felt like it, it would start right up. It is a scary feeling to go somewhere and shut it off and then a few minutes later put the key in and nothing. I upgraded to a brand new starter (Advantage I think) and haven't had a problem since. My advice is put in the best that will go in there and not worry about it.

AutoZone starters are rebuilt or brand new from Delco/Remy.
